JESSICA WURST
Associate Producer for WSB-TV
Asistant Producer for WUGA, 91.7 and 94.5FM

ABOUT ME
I am currently an associate producer for WSB-TV, the number one local news station in the country. In this role, I pitch, research, interview and write for WSB’s morning, evening and community affairs shows. My main responsibilities include working with morning anchors to produce engaging stories for the Atlanta community. I also collaborate with photographers and executive producers to tackle timely issues such as child drownings and city-wide development projects.
I am also an assistant producer for WUGA FM, the NPR-affiliate station in Athens. Here, I produce weekly feature stories and newscasts for the Athens community, which involves story pitching, interviewing, scriptwriting, audio editing, and final production of story development. Additional responsibilities include working closely with hosts to produce segments, conducting story research, writing copy and taking photos for website publication, contributing to digital newsletters, and training and supporting student interns to improve their journalistic abilities.
Stories I've covered over the past year range from local politics, like an increase in the hotel/motel excise tax, to more powerful topics, such as how domestic assault survivors cope in quarantine. I have also had the privilege of working with the WUGA team to cover major historical events through local perspectives, such as the Black Lives Matter movement and the Nov. 3 election.
